If this is "skill-less" photography, as is often claimed by skeptics, why is there so much room for practicing! Eastofnorth enjoys spiral results, but is stuck working with a camera that has an off center lens, making spirals much more difficult. But it can be done!
A useful exercise, if you are interested in learning the arieal properties of your camera, try doing alot of practice with a single pin-point light source. The motion you achieve will be cleanly illustrated allowing you to hone your skills using the feedback from pervious attempts.
Besides practicing your throws and learning the effects of different exposure lengths, the minimal results can often be quite striking!
